Dornier 328 (until today)

When the Dornier Jets took off for the first time in the 90es, they were constructed with the latest technology. The Dornier 328 was a propeller machine for transporting persons on short flights. Comfort and a good technical performance regarding speed and ascending, were combined for the first time. carbovation gmbh produced a few minor, but nevertheless important parts of the Jets, for example a pax-shell door or a gravel kid. These parts were made of an innovative, light and nearky indestructible material: carbonfibre structures and glass fibre. In 2008, the last Dornier left the production site in German Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich. But up until now, 114 Jets are still active and carbovation gmbh is still in charge for their maintenance and the provision of replacement parts.

Rietberg Museum (2013)

In September 2013 the Dornier Museum in Friedrichshafen dedicated a whole exhibition to carbonfibres, including the history, manufacturing processes, the fields of application and the potential of this special material. carbovation gmbh produced an ultralight carbon roof construction for the summer pavillon of the Rietberg Museum where it is built up every year.

BMW Guggenheim LAB (2011-2012)

The BMW Guggenheim Lab aimed to develop new ideas for the challenges and opportunities of urban life. To achieve this goal, the project travelled around the world. In March 2011, CarboFibretec (Carbofibretec GmbH) was given the task of building the supporting structure of the BMW Guggenheim LAB within just two months. The floating suspended roof covered an area of 250 square meters. The use of carbon fiber provided a very low weight and excellent strength. The weight savings are required for the construction of the BMW Guggenheim LABs, but also simplify the transportation and installation.

Smart Wheel (2014)

High breaking loads and low air pressure can do a lot of harm to a bycicle rim and tire. Together with a few project partners, carbovation gmbh developed „Smart Wheel“, a rim with an integrated chip, which communicates the gathered data to a cellphone application. The system can recognize low air pressure and raises the security of the cyclist, because it prevents tire and rim from damage or breakdown. Through the constant measuring of the break temperature, the system can issue a warning about an overstrain of the material. Like this, the structure of the rims can be protected, the cyclist learns a better breaking behaviour and can maintain the value of his rims. The regulation of the temperature protecs not only the tire but also the cyclist: A sudden burst of the tire or a failure of the rim because of overheating can be recognized by the cyclist in time. Because of a good contrast and a reduced display, the application is easy to use and multifunctional. On top of that it can be completed with other applications, for example with a navigation system. By counting the operating hours, the application can remind the user of the maintenance intervals for the rim. „Smart Wheel“ is not only useful for professionals, but also for leisure cyclists.

InEco (2016)

Light, clean, safe and affordable? Together with a few project partners, the engineers of carbovation gmbh gathered all these qualities and created InEco, a visionary electric car, designed especially for commuters and short-distance drivers. One of the merrits is the combination of steele and carbon structures: Steeles are bendable to a high degree, carbon fibres can receive a great amount of energy. Together, these materials create extremly light and crash-secure components. Because of the special building technique, the weight of InEco, including the batteries, was reduced to less then 900kg. carbovation gmbh paid attention a to an affordable mass production of all components lready in the phase of development. Because of this, a rarely reached cost saving could be realised.
